OS Updates for Daylight Savings Time

In case you missed it there is a lot of news coverage of potential computing issues when the change to Daylight Savings Time (DST) occurs next month. DST arrives earlier this year, and the formula that caluclates this date is embeded into most operating systems needs to be updated to accomodate this. I believe this issue only affects those computer systems in the U.S. and Canada.

Apple has developed an update for Mac OS X and it can be downloaded, along with a Java update and Security Update 2007-002. Run the software update utility to get the latest software fixes, but don’t forget to run the repair permissions option in disk utility before and after you run software update.

Microsoft has also released an update (KB931836) that corrects the DST issue, as well as several other security updates to Windows XP and Office 2003. Make sure you run Windows Update to get the latest updates and security fixes.
